I buy my own tools and I write about the ones that earn their place. To see if a vendor is willing to extend benefits to readers here, I ask. When they say “Yes,” it ends up on this page.
How this works:
Most of what’s listed here will be something I bought myself. Sometimes a manufacturer may send a unit for evaluation. Either way, the rule is the same and it’s stated on every entry so you can see which is which. A sample buys an evaluation, not an article. If a device doesn’t hold up in use, I don’t publish a favorable review of it — I either publish what I actually found or I publish nothing.
No vendor sees a draft before it goes up, none of them gets copy approval, and none of them has editorial input. Where I earn a commission, I say so on the entry. Where I don’t, I say that, too.
