The Birth of Nuclear Power

Zero defects. Design verification. Manual controls, not automatic. Quality. Safety above all else. . . .

All of these characteristics (and more) of the modern nuclear power industry are the legacy of one man: Hyman G. Rickover.

Rickover created the nuclear navy. Then, he was a major influence in the commercial industry.

There is a terrific documentary about Rickover that came out last year from PBS. It’s a great introduction.

It’s called “Rickover: The Birth of Nuclear Power.”

Everyone working in the industry should watch it.

You can rent it in HD from Amazon for $4. If you have Amazon Prime, then you can watch it for free.
