Personal finance apps for iPhone and Android

You can use these apps to track your finances or even save money. . . .

Some are especially handy if you need to run the numbers on the fly to calculate loan or mortgage terms at particular interest rates.

People don’t balance their checkbooks anymore because people don’t use checkbooks anymore.

Even so, we should maintain control over our budget and bank accounts. This requires personal responsibility and self-discipline.

Smart phone apps give us more control than the old-fashioned checkbook ever could. Some of them are free. All are useful if we exert even a little self-discipline.
